Top People to Follow on Twitter (For guys)

5 10 2009

What is twitter for? We’re still talking about it but we’re pretty sure its still within the entertainment realm at this point.

Most people enjoy Twitter as a source for entertainment news and updates like Facebook.  It can be more but for the moment, I’m completely ignoring that academic, useful mumbo-jumbo.

So Maxim (Don’t judge me ladies…) decided to publish the “Top 100 Twitter Accounts Every Guy Should Follow”

And I cant get this sentence to not hyperlink (so that’s why its down here).  Anyways.

Here are the top 10 I pulled from that list just a tad on each of them, my own personal thoughts of course (which you all oh-so-desperately want to hear)

So here they are:

10) The Onion: Who doesn’t love some snide, snarky news? Even better, people will actually think that this stuff is real.  Seriously.

9) Jon Friedman: Blogger for Late Night? Amazing.  What a great job.  Even before Jimmy Fallon. (The guy is trying his best…I’m satisfied for now)

8 ) Tony Robbins: Your own personal life choice in less than 140 words.  Best of all? It’s free.

7) Chris Cooley:  For those of you who don’t play fantasy football, are a Redskins fan, or NFL fanatic, Chris Cooley is the Tight End for the Washington Redskins.  And he’s a everyman guru.  He’s a great guy who gives quirky quotes and plays awesome football.  A guy’s guy.

6 and 5) Tila Tequila and Tempe12: Tila Tequila…seriously, there’s not much more to discuss.  Tempe12 is the twitter for Arizona State University’s hottest girls.  Twitter at its dirtiest.

4) Wired: Every guy should be a little tech savvy.  At the bare minimum, he should be able to ACT like he knows what he’s talking about.  No better place than Wired.

3) Woot: Woot is a Deal of the Day site.  You can find all sorts of stuff here at a heavy discount.  There’s even a Tshirt Woot for you bargain clothers and a Wine woot for you to act like you know what tannins, full bodied, and bouquet all mean.

2) Taco Bell Truck: Free tacos.  And they tell you where??? Yes please.

And finally….

1) Digg: Digg combines all outlets into one utterly cluttered beautiful mess that is informative, funny, and the ultimate tool of procrastination.

And as an honorable mention, David Parson’s twitter should be seen by people (shameless plug on his part in my opinion).

Next week, we’ll go through top twitter sites for the ladies (and so they won’t beat me up in class)

Nice to see you’re going to tackle an equivalent list tailored to women next time around. I suggest you might want to foreshadow that sort of thing in your lead paragraph next time you do something selective like this, because sometimes an audience does not stick around through the end when they feel as if they are being left out in the beginning. So you might have women writing to criticize you because they don’t read down to the end of the post and see that you’re coming up with Part Deux.
